HOUSE OF RAEFORD’S DON TABER NAMED POULTRY PERSON OF THE YEAR

Industry News, Member News,

The 47th annual Urner Barry Executive Conference held last week in Las Vegas recognized Don Taber of House of Raeford Farms as their 2023 Poultry Person of the Year.  The award acknowledges an exceptional individual for his work and service to the industry.  House of Raeford’s founder Marvin Johnson received the award in 1994.

Taber, who currently is House of Raeford’s President of the Cooked Products Group, previously served as Chief Financial Officer as well as President & COO in his 26-year career with the company. Presenting the award was Urner Barry Vice President Russ Whitman and poultry market reporters Dylan Hughes and Matt Busardo.

“His professional experience runs far and deep, as does his industry knowledge, having worked with chicken, turkey, and further processing operations, while employed in positions of increasing responsibility by such industry giants as Cargill, Foster Farms, and House of Raeford,” said Russ Whitman. “He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Chicken Council, is a past member of the NCC Executive Committee, and has served on the Boards of Directors of the National Turkey Federation and the North Carolina Poultry Federation, among other non-profits.”  It was also meaningful to hear other industry leaders share their testimonies about Don in this video presentation.
