Consumer spending on poultry remains resilient even as GLP-1 weight-loss drugs reshape eating habits and proposed new dietary guidelines threaten to strain household budgets, according to Leo Feler, chief economist at consumer intelligence firm Numerator.

Speaking at the 2026 Annual Meat Conference. Feler said data drawn from 200,000 U.S. households — tracked via receipt scanning, loyalty account links, email receipts and consumer surveys — shows that meat consumption broadly, and poultry specifically, continues to hold up across income groups and economic conditions.
